Dr. Hyung Tae Kwak, Petroleum Engineering Consultant from Saudi Aramco, delivered a SPWLA Global Distinguished Lecture, hosted by the SPWLA KAUST Student Chapter and DGYM. His presentation, “Discrete Inversion Method for Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Data Processing and Its Applications to Fluid Typing and Quantification,” covered advanced NMR processing approaches for the oil and gas industry. The lecture sparked lively discussions on NMR petrophysics and innovative inversion workflows for reservoir evaluation.
During the visit, Dr. Kwak visited the GEMS Platform's laboratories to learn about the experimental capabilities driving KAUST's subsurface energy research, and joined in several DGYM featured research presentations about digital rock and reservoir modeling, to seek for more in-depth collaborations between his team and DGYM.
