Last week, Prof. Yongcun Feng from the China University of Petroleum (Beijing) visited King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) to explore opportunities for academic and research collaboration.

During his visit, Prof. Feng attended the Times Higher Education (THE) summit held at KAUST, connecting with global academic and research leaders. The event provided a valuable opportunity to learn about KAUST’s vision in advancing interdisciplinary research and promoting international academic partnerships.

He also visited the GEMS Laboratory for a lab tour, gaining insight into the ongoing research activities and advanced experimental facilities at KAUST.

As part of his visit, Prof. Feng participated in the DGYM group research meeting, where he exchanged ideas with students and researchers about recent progress in reservoir simulation, deep learning applications in porous media, and molecular-scale modeling of fluid–rock interactions. The discussion highlighted several areas of potential collaboration, particularly in data-driven reservoir analysis and advanced simulation techniques.

In addition, he met with Dean Chak and faculty members from the Energy Resources and Petroleum Engineering (ERPE) program to exchange ideas on strengthening education and research collaboration between KAUST and CUPB.

Prof. Feng’s visit provided a fruitful platform for academic exchange and laid a solid foundation for long-term cooperation between KAUST and CUPB. The DGYM group looks forward to deepening this partnership and exploring new research frontiers together.
