Professor Shuyu Sun, Dean of the School of Mathematical Sciences at Tongji University and former KAUST faculty member, recently visited KAUST for academic exchange activities with the DGYM research group.
Academic Activities During the Visit
During his visit, Prof. Sun participated in several academic activities, demonstrating the continued collaboration between Tongji University and KAUST.
Thesis Defense Participation
Prof. Sun served on the examination committee for Xinyu Yao's PhD defense, providing valuable feedback and expertise on the research concerning molecular insights into cushion gas effects on underground hydrogen storage.
Attending Distinguished Lecture
Prof. Sun attended a seminar delivered by Prof. Dongxiao Zhang, titled "AI for Science: AI-Driven Knowledge Discovery." The talk explored how artificial intelligence is transforming scientific research and knowledge discovery across disciplines.
Research Group Presentation
Prof. Sun also attended presentations by DGYM group members, learning about current research progress in data-driven and physics-based modeling for subsurface energy systems. The discussions covered various topics including reservoir simulation, deep learning applications, and sustainable energy development.
The visit concluded with a group photo, capturing the collaborative spirit between the institutions and marking the strengthening of academic ties.
