Prof. Bicheng Yan and PhD student Haotian Li from DGYM recently participated in the prestigious SPE GOTECH 2025 conference in Dubai, making significant contributions through multiple presentations and session leadership.
Leadership in AI and Machine Learning Sessions
Prof. Yan demonstrated his expertise in artificial intelligence applications by chairing two key sessions at the conference. On April 22, he led the "Advances in Machine Learning Applications" session, showcasing cutting-edge developments in the field. This was followed by chairing the "AI-Powered Efficiency Improvements" session on April 23, which highlighted innovative approaches to enhancing operational efficiency through artificial intelligence.
Invited Presentation at Dragon Oil
On the morning of April 22, Prof. Yan was invited to present at the Dragon Oil exhibition hall, where he shared the group's work on "Practical Reduced Order Modeling for Geo-Energy Reservoir Management." This presentation highlighted DGYM's innovative approaches to simplifying complex reservoir models while maintaining accuracy for effective management decisions.
Technical Committee Service
In addition to his speaking engagements, Prof. Yan served on the SPE GOTECH AI Hackathon II Technical Committee, helping to evaluate innovative AI solutions proposed by teams of industry professionals and students. This involvement underscores his commitment to fostering the next generation of AI applications in the energy sector.
Emerging Research by DGYM Team
PhD student Haotian Li represented the next generation of researchers from DGYM, presenting his work on "Multiscale Reservoir Simulation Through Super-Resolution Techniques" during the "Predictive Modeling Innovations" session on April 21. His presentation demonstrated novel methods for enhancing simulation detail while maintaining computational efficiency.
These engagements at SPE GOTECH 2025 not only showcased DGYM's leadership in applying AI and machine learning to geo-energy challenges but also strengthened connections with industry partners and academic collaborators in the Middle East region.
