On September 11, 2024, Profs. Bicheng Yan and Shuyu Sun welcomed Dr. Horacio Florez, the lead petroleum engineer from Aramco, to KAUST. Dr. Florez delivered a presentation titled “Relevant R&D Experience in Topics Such as Coupled Flow and Mechanics, Model-Order Reduction (MOR), and Optimization and Machine Learning”, highlighting cutting-edge advancements in coupled reservoir simulation, optimization, and machine learning drawn from his research

Following the presentation, Dr. Florez toured the Petroleum and Energy platform lab, where he had the opportunity to explore its advanced facilities and innovative research projects. This visit not only highlighted the synergy between KAUST and industry but also opened avenues for future partnerships.
