APOGCE 2023 was held between 10-12th October 2023 in Jakarta, Indonesia. Billal Aslam and Prof. Bicheng Yan represented DGYM and KAUST by presenting the paper  on Rapid Simulation and Optimization of Geological CO2 Sequestration Using Coarse Grid Network Model based on research collaboration with Drs. Knut-Andreas Lie and Stein Krogstad from SINTEF ICT. This paper demonstrates the application of a so-called coarse–grid network model (CGNet) as a reduced-order model for efficient simulation and optimization of CO2 sequestration with brine extraction. Using Johansen formation dataset as a use case, this study show that a reduced-order model such as CGNet can be a powerful data-driven tool for faster evaluation of CO2 geo-sequestration simulation, combined with proper reservoir monitoring program.
